This is an exact model of Thurmond from the switch leading to the freight house to just beyond the coaling tower. The valuation map was simply reduced to HO scale and plotted on the platform. The East Yard used by the C&O as a marshaling yard is modeled but used as a staging area. The bunk house, freight house, the Kincaid building and the Mankin – Cox building have been completed using 3D printing technology. The bridge over the New River (a 200’ Warren truss with several deck girder bridges) is under construction. Currently (mid June) no scenery has been completed, but some rough scenery should be in place by October. Track is all hand laid on poplar ties with #10 or #12 switches on the mainline, #8 switches in yard areas, and #6 or #7 switches serving the coal mine that I salvaged from my previous layout. | |||||||
