CLINIC: Becoming Prototypical | ||
DAY: Friday | TIME: 2:30-3:30p |
ROOM: Auditorium |
DESCRIPTION: Many of us start in this hobby intrigued by making trains run and building and buying models. Using my own Oregon Coast Railroad as an example, this clinic explores making the change from building and buying railroad models to creating a believable prototype railroad in miniature. Subjects include setting a location and era, defining the railroad’s purpose, and fitting engines, cabooses, cars, and industries into a compatible whole. The concepts and ideas apply to both prototype-freelance layouts and layouts based on a real railroad. |
About the Clinician... Mat Thompson’s Oregon Coast Railroad was featured in Great Model Railroads 2014. Building structures and scenery are his favorite modeling activities. He is also an avid model railroad operator and regularly attends operating sessions. He has earned Master Model Railroader certification. |
