DESCRIPTION: This clinic will cover the preparation, research, paints, masking, decaling, sealing, and final detail and assembly of models. I will include at least one steam locomotive, one diesel, one multi-colored model, two pieces of rolling stock and either a MOW model or passenger car. The idea is to make everyone comfortable with the models, tools and paints so they can achieve contest quality results. |

DESCRIPTION: This clinic will cover the preparation, research, paints, masking, decaling, sealing and final detail and assembly of models. All types of structures will be discussed, including plastic kits, Wood & craftsman kits, metal kits and scratchuilt structures. Also included will be techniques for metal siding/roofing, and aging and weathering walls and foundations. |
About the Clinician... A formally trained artist with a BFA from the Savannah College of Art & Design, Mike Baker began working on the retail side of the hobby in 1986 at the Mitchell’s store in Wilmington DE. While attending school in Savannah, GA he also worked at Bull Street Station, the premier model railroad store in southeastern GA. He has been custom building and painting since 1987. His models have been published in Model Railroader, Railmodel Journal, Railroad Model Craftsman, Mainline Modeler, Model Railroading, and the NMRA Bulletin. Mike also runs Nick & Nora Designs, a line of craftsman structure kits and details. |
